Life Drawing Friday 11th July

A day of Life Drawing Friday 11th July 10.00 – 16.00

This month by special request our untutored life drawing session will be for a whole day.  We will begin with short warm up poses before selecting a pose that will last for the rest of the day, giving artists an opportunity to do some detailed drawings or get their paints out.  There will be a break in the morning and afternoon and for lunch.  Helen will be our model this session.
Please bring your own materials and equipment including an easel and also remember a pack lunch.  Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available all day. Cost £30.00.

Maximum 10 places.  If there’s space it may be possible to just do the normal morning 2 hour session.

EOS and Workshop Review

Review of my 2 day Colour and Texture in the Landscape Workshop

Alison
Rebecca

Day 1. We were lucky with the weather on the first day of the Colour and Texture  in the Landscape Workshop and the Artists who participated were able to spend the morning drawing in the beautiful mid Devon landscape attempting to capture the breathtaking panoramic views.  In the afternoon I carried out some demonstrations on how to create a unique colour palette  from just a few tubes of paint.  The group explored creating different textures and marks from a variety tools and by the end of the first afternoon
Jane
Jane, Ruth and Frannie
they had 2 canvases covered in a variety marks and a personally created colour range.

Day 2. The day started with time spent reflecting on and developing ideas from the first days drawings and finding links between them and the intuitive marks made on their canvases.
I demonstrated how I build up my paintings in layers with a range of dfferent marks, leaving some areas of bare canvas and exposing previous layers by scraping back paint and scratching through.

The group explored these techniques in their paintings learning  that time spent in thinking and reflecting on the next stage is as important as the painting process.

Here are some of the outcomes.

I will be carrying out a Colour Coast and Texture 2 day Workshop in May which will be one day on location and a day in the Studio.

I will also be repeating the Colour and Texture in the Landscape 2 day Workshop in June. For information about workshops and short courses including residential Courses
