....a time for observation - fantastic workshop at Honeycomb Studios

Laurie Steen's  inspirational workshop '...a time for observation'  was a brilliant and  informative day where students investigated working on different types of paper in graphite and charcoal and explored Laurie's particular methodology of treating  paper with gesso and using low odour paint thinner and safflower oil to change the nature of the line and for over drawing.  This intensive day included a series of drawings taken from leaves, branches and autumn flora and fauna, quick drawings, shadow drawings and very detailed macro drawings.  Laurie is also one of the teachers on the forthcoming  Drawing Weekend at DartmoorArts, 20th and 21st October.  We look forward to welcoming Laurie back early in 2013.
