Paper Making Two Rivers Paper Making Company

Learn to make A4 hand made paper out of cotton and recycled rag. The largest output at Two Rivers is of the famous TR and DeNimes handmade artists paper. This is the paper of choice for many of the country's finest artists. Two Rivers has a unique  random surface texture unlike the mechanically even weave of most other branded papers. This also means that there is not a right or wrong side as both sides are identical. It is incredibly hard sized, allowing the painter the luxury of pushing paint around for much longer than with more absorbent artist’s papers. As well as watercolour, our papers are used for pastels, oils, printmaking, photographic processes and many types of mixed media. www.tworiverspaper.co.uk/themill
Price £40.00

Tuesday 13th September – 11am – 4pm
Drawing Master Class Laurie Steen

Focusing on the nature of drawing, and the drawing of nature.  Warm up to include large movement and shadow drawing, as above, while encouraging an explorative approach to drawing.   The big Idea: The act of drawing while moving and shadow drawing positive and negative shapes, allows us to loosen up and explore the concept of Edges, Space and Shapes, in a way that doesn’t continually reference our stored symbolic concepts of a subject.  Sometimes learning to draw is about knowing  that your only job is to record information and shadow drawing allows us to do this brilliantly... with creativity following.
After studying fine arts at the University of Calgary, Laurie graduated with an honors BID and thesis prize from the University of Manitoba in 1993, where she also taught sketch camps and drawing classes. Laurie has been a part of many solo and group exhibitions in Canada, Switzerland and the United Kingdom where she is now residing. Laurie has her work in numerous private and corporate collections including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. lauriesteen@mac.com
